1 cup [250 mL] sugar
1 cup [250 mL] brown sugar
1 cup [250 mL] heavy cream [35% m.s.g.]
2 tablespoons [30 mL] butter
1 teaspoon [5 mL] maple extract or maple syrup
Nuts or pecans [optional]
In a large microwave-safe container, well mix together sugar, brown sugar and cream.
Microwave for 11 minutes, uncovered, at 'HIGH'.
Meanwhile, measure butter and maple extract or syrup.
Pour some ice cold water into a sink; add some ice cubes.
Butter a square mold; set aside.
Remove mixture from microwave-oven; stir in butter and maple extract or syrup.
Transfer container into cold, icy water; stir until mixture just thickens.
If desired, mix in nuts or pecans; pour into prepared mold.
Leave to cool completely before cutting into squares.
