Ingredients.
2 lb. beef chuck, cut in 1'' cubes
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup. water
1 tbs. ale
3 med. onions, chopped
1 end crust pumper-nickel bread, crumbled
1/4 tsp. each thyme, savory,marjoram
6 carrots, sliced
6 potatoes, peeled and chopped
Place beef in kettle, add salt, pepper, ale, chopped onions and bread. Bring to a boil, lower heat, simmer, covered for about hours or until meat is almost tender. Add spices, carrots and potatoes. Cover and continue to cook until vegetables and meat are tender. If additional liquid is required, add more ale. Serves 6.
